Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor
Measures pressure in the exhaust, and on a diesel is how the module knows how full the particulate filter has become — accumulating soot raises back pressure, and that differential is what triggers regeneration. A sensor the module cannot trust means regeneration is never scheduled properly: either it does not run and the filter blocks, or it runs constantly and dilutes the engine oil with unburnt fuel. Its small sensing lines run through exhaust heat and soot and block long before the sensor itself fails, so they are the first thing to check.
