P0510: Closed Throttle Position Switch
What to do
Usually driveable. A noticeable hang in engine speed when lifting off is the characteristic symptom.
What this code means
The switch that tells the module the throttle is fully closed is not behaving. Knowing the throttle is shut is what lets the module enter idle control and fuel cut-off on the overrun, so a switch stuck open leaves the engine believing the driver is still asking for power when they have lifted off.
The practical result is a delayed return to idle, poor overrun fuel economy, and sometimes a slight surge as the pedal is released.
