P0602: Control Module Programming Error
What to do
Needs a dealer or specialist with the correct programming equipment. If a control module was recently replaced — especially a second-hand one — that is almost certainly the cause. Be cautious about used modules generally: many are permanently paired to their original vehicle and cannot be made to work in another.
What this code means
The module is not correctly programmed — either it was never configured for this vehicle, or a programming attempt did not complete. New and exchange modules arrive blank or generically configured and must be coded to the specific vehicle: engine variant, transmission, market, immobiliser data and options.
This code very often follows recent work. A replacement module fitted without coding, a second-hand module from another vehicle, or an interrupted programming session all produce it. Second-hand modules are the case worth flagging, because they are frequently bought to save money and then cannot be coded at all — many are locked to their original vehicle's immobiliser and are unusable regardless of tooling.
