P0881: Transmission Control Module Power Input Signal Range/Performance
What to do
Mention if the problem is worse on cold mornings, in the wet, or with the heated screen and lights on — that pattern points at an electrical supply that sags under load rather than at the transmission itself, and it is a cheap fault masquerading as an expensive one.
What this code means
The module's supply voltage is within broad limits but not behaving as it should — sagging under load, recovering slowly, or fluctuating more than a healthy system does.
This is the version that hides best. A supply that fails outright produces obvious symptoms and gets diagnosed; a supply that merely sags when the cooling fans and heated screen come on produces a transmission that shifts badly on cold wet mornings and perfectly the rest of the time. That pattern gets attributed to the gearbox being tired.
The test that finds it is a voltage drop measurement across the supply and earth paths while the system is loaded — not a static voltage reading, which will look fine. Resistance that only matters under current is exactly what a corroded joint produces.

Information, not instruction
CarGeek is a reference, not a service manual. Its pages are written from public sources and from what other people have found, never from a manufacturer's own service information, so they can be wrong or incomplete for your particular vehicle. Some of what they describe carries real risk: high voltage, fuel under pressure, stored energy, hot and moving parts.
Have anything you intend to act on checked by a trained person against the manufacturer's own procedure for your vehicle. Nothing here replaces that procedure.

Nothing posted about this yet. Whatever you found is worth writing down — even a dead end saves someone the same afternoon.
What makes one worth reading:
- The car — make, model, year and engine. The same fault behaves differently on each.
- What you measured, not only what you replaced.
- What actually fixed it — or that nothing did, which is worth knowing too.
