P0A50: Generator Position Sensor Circuit Overspeed
What to do
Flatbed towing only, as for the whole overspeed family. If the code followed a tow or a rolling-road test, say so — it is the difference between recording an event and hunting a fault.
What this code means
The position sensor reported the generator spinning beyond its limit.
The P0A44 split — electrical impostor versus real event — applies, but the generator adds a third possibility unique to eCVT transaxles: because the generator's speed is geared to the difference between engine and wheels, certain abuse combinations spin it fastest of all three machines. Towing with driven wheels down does it; so can driving at sustained very high road speed with a cold or faulted system. The flatbed rule and the tell-the-workshop-about-the-event advice both transfer whole.
