What to do

The valve may be working perfectly — this is the circuit that reports on it. But the car cannot tell the difference and will behave cautiously, which is the right response. As P0CDF, a valve fault often shows up somewhere unrelated, so mention anything else that has changed.

What this code means

The sensor reporting the coolant control valve's position has a circuit fault.

Commanding a valve and knowing where it actually is are different things, and this is the second — the same sense-versus-control distinction the cooling fan makes at P0BC7. Without it the module can only know what it asked for, which on a component that fails by sticking rather than by going open is exactly the wrong thing to have to assume.

That is what makes the position sensor worth its own circuit: a stuck valve is invisible to a control circuit and obvious to a position sensor. Losing the sensor does not stop the valve working, but it removes the car's ability to notice when it has stopped.
