The car will not charge and will usually still drive. Ask whether a software update is available and whether the module is the correct part for this vehicle before agreeing to a replacement — a charger assembly is one of the more expensive parts on the car, and a failed processor check is often a firmware problem.
What this code means
The battery charger control module's processor has failed its own performance check.
This is narrower than P0D67 and the difference is worth knowing. That code says the charger module is not performing; this one says its processor is not — the module has run an internal test of its own computation and the result was wrong.
A processor self-check is not a formality. The module controls a device pushing several kilowatts into a lithium battery, where the difference between a correct and an incorrect switching decision is measured in milliseconds and the consequence of getting it wrong is at P0D85. So it verifies its own arithmetic, its memory and its watchdog before it will authorise a charge, and it refuses rather than proceeding on a processor it cannot vouch for.
Which makes the refusal the expected behaviour rather than the fault. A car that will not charge with this stored is doing the right thing.
Two cheap causes first, as always with a module. Corrupted software — charger firmware is updated more often than most, because charging standards and charge-point behaviour keep moving, and an interrupted update leaves exactly this. And a module of the wrong part number, which fails its own checks for an entirely sensible reason. Ask about both before agreeing to replace a charger.
