The car will usually still drive and may refuse to charge. Do not keep retrying — a precharge fault that is left alone tends to become a welded main contactor, which is far more expensive and is a safety matter because the battery can then no longer be isolated.

The charging system's precharge contactor is faulty.
The charging system has a precharge contactor of its own, and this family is about the contactor rather than about the timing.
Why precharge exists is set out at P0D25: closing a contactor straight onto empty capacitors draws an inrush large enough to weld the contact faces together, so a resistor fills them gently first and only then does the main contactor close. P0D25 and P0D26 measure how long that took. These codes are about the switch that does it.
Stuck closed is the dangerous direction, and it is worth being plain about why. A precharge contactor that will not open leaves the precharge resistor permanently in circuit — so it carries current it was never sized for, continuously, and it heats. A resistor built to absorb a brief pulse several times a day will not survive being left in the path, and what follows is an open resistor, which removes the protection entirely and hands the next closure to the main contactor with nothing limiting the inrush.
So stuck closed is not a fault that stays the same size. It is the first step in a sequence that ends with a welded main contactor, which is both expensive and a safety matter because the pack can then no longer be isolated.
