P2108: Throttle Actuator A Control Module Performance

Do not keep driving

Expect restricted power. Ask for the throttle body to be inspected and cleaned before a module is condemned — a stiff throttle makes the control system look faulty when it is doing its best with a mechanical problem.

What this code means

The module's throttle control function is not performing as its own monitoring expects — commanded and achieved positions disagreeing persistently, or the control loop behaving outside its designed limits.

The distinction from P2107 is that this is about behaviour rather than the processor's self-check, which leaves more room for the fault to be outside the module. A throttle that is mechanically stiff makes a healthy control loop look badly tuned, so carbon around the plate belongs on the suspect list before the electronics do.

Information, not instruction

CarGeek is a reference, not a service manual. Its pages are written from public sources and from what other people have found, never from a manufacturer's own service information, so they can be wrong or incomplete for your particular vehicle. Some of what they describe carries real risk: high voltage, fuel under pressure, stored energy, hot and moving parts.

Have anything you intend to act on checked by a trained person against the manufacturer's own procedure for your vehicle. Nothing here replaces that procedure.

Nothing posted about this yet. Whatever you found is worth writing down — even a dead end saves someone the same afternoon.

What makes one worth reading:

  • The car — make, model, year and engine. The same fault behaves differently on each.
  • What you measured, not only what you replaced.
  • What actually fixed it — or that nothing did, which is worth knowing too.
