P2119: Throttle Actuator A Control Throttle Body Range/Performance
Do not keep driving
Ask for the throttle plate to be watched moving before a throttle body is quoted — a sticky plate is visible, and cleaning plus a relearn resolves a large share of these. A complete throttle body is an expensive part to fit on the strength of a code alone.
What this code means
The throttle body as a whole is not behaving as commanded — the plate not reaching its position, not holding it, or not returning to its stop cleanly. Where P2101 describes the motor circuit failing that comparison, this one describes the assembly.
The check that costs nothing and settles most of these: with the engine off and the ignition on, the module usually performs a throttle sweep, and the plate can be watched moving through its travel. A plate that moves stiffly, hesitates at one point, or does not return crisply to its stop has answered the question mechanically, and no further electrical testing is needed before cleaning.
That matters because a complete throttle body is one of the more expensive small parts on a modern engine, and a significant proportion of the ones replaced needed nothing more than cleaning and a relearn.
