Expect missing or refused gears rather than total failure — the box is declining to use gears it cannot confirm. Driving on briefly is usually safe in the gears it still offers, but have it diagnosed soon: what starts as a sensor reading can also be the first sign of a fork or synchroniser wearing, and those get more expensive with every hard shift.
What this code means
Shift fork C's position circuit is reading low.
A constant low usually means a short to ground — the line is pulled down regardless of what the sensor or module does, and the module stops trusting anything the circuit says.
A shift fork is the finger that slides a gear into mesh. Inside any manual-style gearbox — which is what a dual-clutch or automated manual is mechanically — each fork rides a rail and pushes a synchroniser sleeve across to lock a gear to its shaft. Your hand did this through the lever; in an automated box, actuators drive the forks, and a position sensor on each fork tells the module exactly where it stands.
Fork position is how the box knows a gear is truly engaged, and it matters doubly in a dual-clutch. A DCT's whole trick is pre-selection: while you drive on one clutch, the other half of the box quietly engages the next gear. The module will not hand torque to a clutch whose gear it cannot confirm — so a fork the module cannot see is a gear it will not use, and often a whole half of the gearbox set aside.
Expect gears missing rather than everything failing. A fork fault typically takes out the gears on that one rail — the box skips them, shifts around them, or limps in what it can verify. Which gears misbehave is real diagnostic information: it names the rail.
