Treat this one with respect — a gear that disengages by itself removes drive without warning. Avoid overtaking and fast roads until it is diagnosed, and if you feel it drop out of gear on the move, do not keep resetting and driving: the wear that lets a gear walk out under load only gets worse, and the failure mode chooses its own moment.
What this code means
Shift fork C moved without being commanded.
The fork moved and nobody commanded it — which means a gear engaged or dropped out on its own. A gear disengaging at speed removes drive without warning; one engaging uncommanded is drag, lurch, or in the worst case two gears fighting. Either way this is one of the faults an automated gearbox treats most seriously, and so should you.
The mechanics behind it are wear, not electronics. Worn synchronisers and rounded engagement teeth let a loaded gear walk itself out of mesh — the classic jumping-out-of-gear of an old manual, happening inside an automated box. Worn detents that should hold the rail in place let vibration do the rest. The sensor is only the witness; the movement is real.
