The circuit for wastegate position sensor B is faulty.

A wastegate position sensor turns boost control from a guess into a measurement, and its arrival marks a real change in how turbochargers are managed.

A classic wastegate is a spring and a diaphragm. Boost pushes against a spring; when it wins, the gate opens and exhaust bypasses the turbine. Nothing measures anything — the system is self-regulating and approximate, and the engine module infers what happened from the boost that resulted.

An electric wastegate actuator with a position sensor closes that loop. The module commands a position, reads back what it got, and can therefore control boost precisely across the whole rev range rather than at one design point. That is what makes modern small-capacity turbo engines drivable — and it is why a position fault costs more than it sounds.

Losing the feedback does not lose boost control; it loses boost confidence. The module cannot verify the gate is where it asked, so it backs off to a conservative map: reduced power, and often a car that feels flat in the mid-range while pulling normally at low revs.

Two sensors mean a twin-turbo installation, so a fault on one is one turbo — which on a V-engine is felt as an odd imbalance rather than a straightforward loss of power.
