Iran Khodro's OHV — the pushrod 1.7 in the Arisun and, before it, in a very long line of light commercials.
⚑ It descends from the Peugeot 504's engine and has been built in Iran for decades after Peugeot stopped — so French material for the 504 and 505 describes much of the same hardware, and it is far easier to find than anything filed under the Iranian name.
It is a pushrod engine in cars sold in the 2010s, which is genuinely unusual and is the single most useful thing to know before opening one: there is no camshaft in the head, valve clearances are adjusted mechanically, and the service intervals are of an older era.
The G2 is the bi-fuel version, arranged to run on compressed natural gas as well as petrol — a very common conversion in its home market and one that changes the valve seats, the ignition timing and the maintenance schedule.
