Mazda's badge for the small diesels it bought from PSA — the 1.4 and 1.6 in the Mazda2, Mazda3 and Mazda5.

⚑ It is not a Mazda engine and that is the single most useful thing about this page. The 1.6 MZ-CD is a PSA DV6, the same engine that appears as the 1.6 HDi in half of Europe, and the 1.4 is its smaller sibling. A fault found on a Peugeot 207 applies directly, and searching the Mazda badge finds a fraction of what searching the PSA code finds.

The DV6 page carries the recurring items, and they are the ones that decide these cars: the turbocharger oil feed pipe, which carbons up and starves the turbo; the fuel filter and its water trap; and on the particulate-filter cars, the additive system, which is a maintenance item nobody expects.

Do not confuse it with MZR-CD, which is Mazda's own 2.0 and 2.2 diesel and has a separate page here. One letter, two unrelated engines from two companies — and both badges appear on the Mazda3.
