SsangYong's 2.0 turbocharged petrol — in the Rexton and Musso.
It is SsangYong's own engine, which is worth stating because most of the marque's older engines are licence-built Mercedes units with Mercedes parts behind them. This one has neither, and the documentation is SsangYong's alone.
It is a modern direct-injected turbo four and its faults are that family's: intake-valve carbon is expected at mileage rather than a defect, and it presents as a rough idle and a hesitant pull-away that respond to cleaning.
It is a petrol engine in vehicles usually bought as diesels, so comparative experience is thin even within the model range — and the turbocharger's oil feed is what the service interval is really protecting on a heavy vehicle worked this hard.
