Tata's 2.1-litre sixteen-valve petrol four, developed with AVL and sold in the Safari from 2003 to 2005 and later in the Xenon pickup, where a compressed-natural-gas version was also offered.
It is the odd engine in Tata's older range and the reason matters here: everything around it is a diesel. The 483, the 497 and the XD88 are indirect- or direct-injection diesels with mechanical pumps; this is multi-point petrol injection with a throttle body, a coil pack and lambda control — so a Safari or a Xenon carrying it has an emissions and fuel-trim fault population that none of the diesel material describes, and the generic petrol corpus applies to it directly where it applies to nothing else of that era under this badge.
It was short-lived and rare. en.wikipedia gives 135 hp for the Safari's; no second source carries a figure, so none is written on the rows.
