Dodge Intrepid
A large front-drive saloon on Chrysler's cab-forward LH platform, shared with the Chrysler Concorde, LHS and New Yorker and the Eagle Vision — so those pages carry the same running gear and most of the same faults. The engine is what decides the work: the 3.5 and later 2.7 V6s are chain-driven and transverse, and the 2.7 has a sludging history severe enough to be the first question asked of any high-mileage car with an oil-pressure or timing-chain complaint, usually traced to a blocked PCV path and short-journey use rather than to neglect.

The original cab-forward car. 3.3 and 3.5 V6s with a four-speed automatic; the transverse layout puts the rear bank against the bulkhead, which is what makes plug and coil work awkward.

Second generation 1997–2004
The 2.7 V6 arrives as the base engine and is the one to establish before anything else — its oil-sludge history dominates the generation.
