Porsche 918 Spyder
A plug-in hybrid with a 4.6 V8 driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch and two electric motors — one on the rear axle inside the gearbox housing, one driving the front axle with no mechanical connection to the engine at all. That layout is the whole of what makes it different: the front wheels are driven electrically only, so a front-drive fault is an inverter and motor question, and the car moves silently under its own power with the V8 stopped. The monocoque is carbon, the 6.8 kWh pack sits behind the cabin, and 918 were built.
