Mahindra Quanto
A Xylo cut to under four metres, which is what the shape is for: India's excise band changes at 4,000 mm and the Quanto is a shortened version of Mahindra's own MPV built to sit under it. The ladder frame, the rear-drive layout and much of the running gear are the Xylo's, so a chassis or driveline procedure written for that vehicle usually transfers.
The engine is a three-cylinder, and that is the fact worth carrying. The 1.5 mCR100 is a 1,493 cc triple making 100 hp and 240 Nm — the same size as the four-cylinder 1.5 in the Marazzo and the XUV300, and a completely different engine. A misfire on one cylinder is a third of this engine rather than a quarter, and it presents as a shake heavy enough to be mistaken for a mounting failure.
Renamed NuvoSport in 2016 rather than replaced. The facelift changed the badge, the nose and the interior and left the platform and the powertrain alone, so the two names describe one vehicle across eight model years.
