P0497: Evaporative Emission System Low Purge Flow
What to do
Driveable with no symptom you would notice. Will fail an emissions test.
What this code means
Less vapour is reaching the intake than commanded. Unlike the high-flow fault this produces no symptom at all — the engine simply burns slightly less stored vapour, which nobody notices.
A blocked purge line, a valve that will not open, or a collapsed hose account for nearly all of these. The purge line often runs close to the exhaust, and a hose that has hardened and collapsed internally looks perfectly sound from outside.
