P0D4C: Battery Charger Hybrid/EV Battery Output Voltage Sensor Circuit
What to do
The car will drive but will probably refuse to charge. That refusal is deliberate — the car will not charge on a single unverified measurement. Do not keep retrying at different charge points; the fault is on the car.
What this code means
The circuit for the sensor measuring the charger's high voltage output to the traction battery is faulty.
Two independent instruments watch this one voltage, and that redundancy is deliberate. The charger measures what it is sending; the battery management system measures what it is receiving (the P0B14 family). Charging only proceeds while the two agree.
The reason is that this is the one place in the car where a mistake writes itself into the battery permanently. Over-charging a lithium cell does not trip anything — it degrades the cell, irreversibly, a little more each time. A single sensor reading low would let the charger push past the ceiling while believing it was under it, and nothing downstream would notice until the pack's capacity had visibly fallen. Two sensors from different modules mean no single failure can do that.
So a fault here stops charging outright rather than falling back to the other measurement. That refusal is the safety mechanism working, and it is why this presents as a car that simply will not charge with no other symptom at all.
