What to do
Expect worse economy and reduced power. Ask for the connector to be checked first — an open circuit reads the same as a short here and is by far the more common of the two.

The reference voltage circuit reads above its valid range — a short to a higher supply, or an open circuit that leaves the input floating high. The distinction matters because a short to battery voltage on a reference line can damage the module's input, while an open circuit is harmless and usually just a connector.
