P2395: Diesel Intake Air Flow B Control Stuck Closed
What to do
A diesel gone suddenly flat and smoky, or stalling, with this code stored has a jammed intake flap — driveable gently if it runs, but a prompt repair rather than a deferred one. Cleaning sometimes frees it; a snapped actuator or linkage needs parts.
What this code means
The second intake air flow valve is stuck closed — the direction that matters, because closed is the position the valve is only meant to visit at shutdown.
A diesel with its intake pinched shut cannot breathe, and unlike a petrol engine it has no idle-air workaround: the engine runs strangled — down on power, smoking black under load from fuel meeting too little air, possibly stalling — or refuses to run at all if the valve shut fully. On twin-valve engines the B designator softens this to one bank's worth of strangulation, which presents as the coarse one-sided running the corpus's bank-split codes keep describing.
The cause is carbon or a failed actuator jamming the flap; the repair is mechanical. This is the family's one genuinely urgent member.
