P2656: A Rocker Arm Actuator System Performance or Stuck Off Bank 2
What to do
Often nothing to feel, or flat running at high revs and worse fuel consumption. Work through the cheap causes in the order at P2646 first.
If a matching code is stored for bank 1, say so — both banks together points at the oil rather than at two failed parts, which is usually the cheapest answer available.
What this code means
The A rocker arm actuator on bank 2 was commanded and did not engage, or could not be confirmed. The cost order — pressure switch, solenoid screen, oil, solenoid, mechanism — is at P2646, and the one-bank-versus-both reasoning at P2655.
Bank 2 is worth one practical note. On a transverse V engine it is usually the bank against the bulkhead, which is the harder of the two to reach; on a longitudinal engine the two are generally equal. That does not change the diagnosis, but it changes the labour, and it is worth establishing before a quote is compared with one for the other side.
