P2847: Shift Fork C Position Sensor Incorrect Neutral Position Indicated

Expect missing or refused gears rather than total failure — the box is declining to use gears it cannot confirm. Driving on briefly is usually safe in the gears it still offers, but have it diagnosed soon: what starts as a sensor reading can also be the first sign of a fork or synchroniser wearing, and those get more expensive with every hard shift.

Shift fork C's position sensor is indicating neutral incorrectly.
Neutral is the one position the module must never be wrong about. Before it starts the engine, hands torque to a clutch, or pre-selects the next gear, the module confirms each rail is where it believes — and a fork reporting engaged when the rail sits in neutral, or neutral when a gear is actually home, breaks that confirmation at its most safety-relevant point.
Two honest explanations, one cheap and one mechanical. The sensor's learned baseline can be wrong — a fork or sensor replaced without the calibration that teaches the module where this fork's true neutral sits reads offset ever after. Or the mechanism has genuinely shifted: a bent fork or worn synchroniser stops short of where neutral used to be. After any gearbox work, calibration first; on an untouched box, suspect the metal.
