B6 and MMT6 are the same gearbox, which this catalogue's own rows demonstrate: several of them print 6-speed B6/MMT6 manual in one string. Ford uses both names in its own literature, so a search under one finds perhaps half of what exists.
It is the six-speed fitted where the five-speed iB5 or MTX-75 went behind smaller engines, and it is a stronger gearbox than either — which is why it appears behind the ST and diesel versions of cars that otherwise have a five-speed.
Its recurring complaint is the clutch and its hydraulics rather than the gearbox. The concentric slave cylinder is inside the bellhousing on most applications, so a leaking seal is a cheap part behind an expensive job — replace it whenever the gearbox is out, regardless of its condition.
Where the gearbox itself wears it is the third and fourth synchros and the shift cables. A change that has gone long and imprecise is the cables; a crunch on a fast change into third is a synchro; a crunch into every gear is the clutch not releasing.
