Mazda CX-60
The large SUV on Mazda's rear-drive-based Large Product architecture, and the most unusual powertrain set in the modern range. The 3.3 Skyactiv-D is a straight-six diesel — a layout almost nobody else still builds — with a 48-volt mild hybrid on most versions. And its eight-speed automatic has no torque converter: a wet multi-plate clutch takes up drive instead, so low-speed shunt and take-up shudder are clutch-control questions rather than converter ones, and they read very differently on a scan tool.
