Mazda Protege
The small saloon and hatchback the Mazda 3 replaced, and the name depends entirely on where the car was sold: Protege in North America, 323 across Europe and Australia, Familia in Japan, all the same vehicle. That matters more here than usual, because a search under one name reaches almost nothing written under the others. The BP engine it shares with the Miata and the 626 is the well-documented part; the Protege5 hatchback and the turbocharged Mazdaspeed car of 2003 are the two variants worth identifying before ordering anything, since neither shares its intake or its management with the ordinary car.
