Mitsubishi i-MiEV
One of the first mass-produced electric cars, and rear-motor, rear-wheel drive on a kei-car platform — which is the layout to have in mind before looking for anything under the bonnet, because the motor, inverter and reduction gear are all behind the rear seat. The 16 kWh pack sits under the floor between the axles. It was also sold as the Peugeot iOn and Citroën C-Zero, identical cars with different badges, so parts and procedures cross those names freely. Battery degradation and cell-balance faults dominate what is left of the fleet.

American cars from 2012 are wider than the Japanese kei version and carry different bodywork. The pack is 16 kWh throughout.
