Faulty stability control module
The module combining wheel speeds, steering angle and yaw to intervene when the car is not going where it is pointed. The brakes still work normally — it can only release or apply pressure beyond what the driver asked for — so what is lost is a capability that only exists in an emergency, which is exactly why the lamp gets ignored.
Typically specialist work. Needs equipment or training most home workshops do not have.
