Worn transmission fluid pump

The pump generating every pressure in the gearbox. Wear shows worst when the fluid is hot and thin, so the complaint is slipping or harsh changes that appear after half an hour of driving and are absent from cold — and low pressure from a worn pump is indistinguishable from low pressure caused by a blocked filter until both are checked.

Typically specialist work. Needs equipment or training most home workshops do not have.
