The evaporator temperature signal is dropping out intermittently. The sensor sits deep in the heater box behind the dashboard, so access is poor and its connector is rarely disturbed — which makes a marginal connection there long-lived and hard to reach.
Because replacement often means dismantling the dashboard, it is worth being certain the sensor rather than its wiring is at fault before committing to the labour.
