What to do
Expect significantly reduced power, and treat it as needing prompt attention rather than a long journey. Before agreeing to a replacement module, ask for the charging system, earths and any sign of water ingress to be checked — genuine processor failure is much rarer than the supply problems that imitate it, and a module is an expensive thing to replace unnecessarily.
What this code means
The module's processor has failed an internal check. Engine modules run redundant processing precisely so that a fault can be detected rather than acted upon — two calculation paths are compared, and a disagreement sets this code and drops the engine into a safe strategy.
That is why the usual symptom is severe power reduction rather than erratic running: the module has decided it cannot trust itself and has deliberately limited what it will do. It is doing its job.
Genuine processor failure is rare. Voltage problems, water ingress and poor earths cause far more of these codes than dead silicon does, and all three are worth eliminating before a module is condemned — modules are expensive and frequently need coding to the vehicle as well.
