P0627: Fuel Pump A Control Circuit Open
What to do
Likely to crank and not start. Listen at the fuel filler with the ignition switched on but the engine not cranking: a two-second whirr is the pump priming, and silence points at this circuit. That single observation saves a great deal of diagnostic time.
What this code means
An open circuit in the fuel pump control. Modern vehicles rarely switch the pump directly from the ignition — a module commands a relay or a pump control unit, partly so the pump can be varied with demand and partly so it can be cut in a collision.
An open here means no fuel delivery and an engine that cranks without starting. The diagnosis is a short chain and worth working through in order: control signal from the module, relay or pump driver, supply to the pump, and the pump itself. A brief whirring from the rear of the vehicle when the ignition is switched on is the pump priming, and its absence is a strong clue.
