Broken wire in control circuit
A conductor broken inside its insulation, so the circuit looks perfect and does not conduct. Flexing points are where this happens — door and tailgate hinges, engine mounts, anywhere the loom moves with the suspension — and the fault usually appears and clears with movement rather than staying put.
