Have the vehicle recovered, and do not open anything to look for the cause. The likeliest explanation is genuinely simple — a high-voltage cover or connector left unlatched — but finding it means working around several hundred volts, and the loop you would be chasing is the only thing that disconnects the battery when a cover comes off. If the car has had any work done recently, say so first, because that is where the answer usually is and it turns a large diagnostic bill into a five-minute refit.

What this code means

The interlock circuit reads above its valid range — the loop is open, or something has pushed a voltage onto it that should not be there.

Of the whole family this is the one most likely to have an ordinary explanation. The loop is a series circuit through every high-voltage cover, connector and service disconnect, so a single item left unlatched opens it and produces exactly this reading. A car that developed this immediately after any work on it — a battery service, an inverter replacement, an accident repair, even a valeting job that involved removing a boot floor panel — is describing a connector that has not been refitted properly far more often than a failed part.

The less common reading is a short to a voltage source, which matters for a different reason: it can hold the circuit at a level that looks continuous, so the module has to distinguish a genuinely closed loop from a wire touching a supply. It refuses to close the contactors either way, which is why this code and the low variant at P0A0C reach the same outcome from opposite directions.

Everything under P0A0A about not investigating this yourself applies here without qualification. The fact that the likely cause is trivial does not make the circuit safe to probe.
