What to do
Treat this one with urgency in warm weather — the pack has lost its cooling while the car drives on happily. Ask specifically for the fan to be removed and cleaned rather than condemned; a dust-choked fan is the classic finding, and a new fan behind a blocked intake fails the same way.
What this code means
The battery cooling fan is not doing what it was told — commanded on and not turning, or turning too slowly to move the air the pack needs.
This is the variant where the electrical circuit checks out and the machine is the problem, and the machine's problem is nearly always dirt: a rotor packed with the dust and pet hair the intake has fed it for years, dragging at a fraction of its design speed. A fan that hums but barely spins, or spins but moves no air through a felted grille, is this code — and the repair is cleaning far more often than replacement.
Stuck off in summer traffic is how packs cook, which is why this variant carries the family's highest severity: it is the direct route to P0A7E and, left long enough, to P0A7F.
