Blocked hybrid battery cooling fan intake
The grille that feeds cabin air to the battery's cooling fan, felted over with dust, carpet fibre and pet hair — or simply buried under luggage and child seats. It sits at floor level near a rear seat, inhaling whatever the cabin offers for years, and it clogs so gradually that nothing announces it: the pack just runs a little warmer every summer, and heat is what ages packs.
This is the cheapest consequential fault in the entire hybrid range. The check is looking at a grille; the fix is a vacuum cleaner and, for the fan behind it, a cleaning. What it prevents is the expensive end of this corpus — over-temperature codes, early deterioration, and replacement packs fitted behind the same blocked intake that killed their predecessors.
