What to do
Urgent. Overvoltage damages electronics across the whole car while you drive, and a hot or rotten-egg-smelling twelve-volt battery means stop now — that smell is the battery gassing. This is a regulation failure inside the converter far more often than anything cheaper.
What this code means
The fourteen-volt output is genuinely high — the converter's regulation has failed in the direction that damages things.
P0A10's argument applies with the measurement now direct: sustained overvoltage boils the twelve-volt battery, shortens every bulb and module on the car, and unlike undervoltage it does not run down gracefully — it destroys as it goes. Unusually bright headlights are the free confirmation, and a hot or smelling twelve-volt battery is the escalation that makes this an urgent stop.
