What to do

Find out whether the pack is air-cooled or liquid-cooled before anything else — it decides whether this is a blocked intake or a cooling circuit repair, and those are very different jobs. If it is air-cooled, the intake is usually inside the cabin and blocks with dust and debris; clearing it is free and fixes a real share of these. Do not put this one off: the car limiting power is protecting the battery, and heat is what shortens a pack's life more than anything except age.

The battery pack's cooling system is not achieving what is asked of it.

The outcome-versus-circuit distinction is at P0C31, and it applies here with one difference that matters: battery packs are cooled in two quite different ways, and which one this vehicle uses decides the entire diagnosis.

An air-cooled pack draws cabin air through a duct and blows it across the modules. Its failures are mechanical and cheap — a blocked intake (usually inside the car, and full of whatever has been left on the back seat), a collapsed duct, a tired fan. A liquid-cooled pack has its own coolant loop, pump, valve and heat exchanger, and fails the way any coolant circuit does: level, air, flow, a stuck valve.

So the first question is which kind of pack it is, and the answer changes whether the fix is a vacuum cleaner or a cooling system repair.

Either way the consequence is the same and worth taking seriously, because heat is the main thing besides time that ages a traction battery. The car will limit power and charging to protect it, which is the system working — but a pack that is repeatedly run hot is losing life that does not come back.
