What to do
If overnight or scheduled charging has stopped happening reliably, this is a much better lead than it looks — the car may simply believe it is a different time than you do. Check the clock shown on the dashboard against your phone, and check any scheduled-charging or departure time still reads what you set. If the 12-volt battery has recently gone flat or been replaced, mention it: that is the commonest way one module's clock ends up disagreeing with another's.
What this code means
The vehicle's modules disagree about what time it is.
A car that does not know the time sounds like a trivial fault, and on an electric one it is not. Three things depend on the clock, and two of them are the reason this code exists in a charging block.
Scheduled charging is the first. Charging overnight on a cheap tariff means starting and stopping at particular clock times, and a module whose clock has drifted — or which disagrees with the module actually holding the schedule — will start at the wrong hour or not at all. The complaint that arrives is "it did not charge overnight", which nobody connects to a clock. Preconditioning has the same shape: a car told to be warm at eight will not be.
Diagnostics is the second, and it costs a workshop rather than an owner. Freeze frame records the moment a code set, and stored faults carry timestamps and ignition counts so that a technician can tell which faults belong to the same event. With the clocks disagreeing, that correlation quietly stops working — fifteen codes from one incident look like fifteen incidents, which is exactly the reasoning U0064 warns against.
The causes are ordinary. A module replaced and not configured; a flat or disconnected 12-volt battery leaving one module's clock reset while another kept time over a backup; a lost satellite or network time source on a vehicle that syncs from one; or a genuine communication fault preventing the modules agreeing at all.
