The car will probably refuse to charge even though the lock appears to work. Driving is unaffected. Mention that the lock seems to operate normally — it points at the sensor rather than the actuator and can save a part being replaced unnecessarily.

What this code means

The circuit for the sensor reporting the charging coupler lock's position is faulty.

Commanding a lock and confirming it locked are two different things, and this sensor is the difference.

The circuits at P0D91 drive the actuator. This one reports where the lock actually ended up — and the whole reason the car needs to know is the interlock argument at P0D91: it will not put current through a coupler it cannot confirm is secured.

So a position sensor fault has the same effect as a broken lock, with nothing mechanically wrong. The actuator moves, the pin engages, and the car refuses to charge because it has no evidence. That is a frustrating fault to diagnose by symptom alone, because everything visible works — and it is why the position sensor is worth checking before the actuator is replaced.

It is also what makes the Performance variant at P0D94 meaningful, since a command that reports success while the position never changes is only detectable by having both.

Present and plausible but not matching what the rest of the system says — drift rather than failure.
