P0E0D: Generator Phase U-V-W Circuit Low
What to do
Expect the engine to run more and charge the battery less. Ask for the shared three-phase connector and the inverter to be checked before the generator itself — three windings do not fail at once, so the fault is usually in what they have in common, and that is the cheap end.
What this code means
All three of the generator's phase circuits are faulty.
This code names all three generator phases at once, and what that means is the opposite of what it sounds like.
Three windings do not fail together. They are separate coils of wire, wound at different times, carrying the same current and the same heat — the odds of all three going at once are negligible. So a fault naming all three is almost never three faults; it is one fault in something they share.
What they share is short and cheap to check: the common connection at the machine, the three-phase connector between the generator and its inverter, the inverter's own output stage, and the earth. The corpus makes the identical argument for the drive motor at P0C05, and the practical value is the same — the worst-sounding code in the family usually has the least expensive cause.
The order of investigation follows from that. Look at the shared connector before the machine, and at the inverter before the windings, because a generator is one of the more expensive things on the car and the connector in front of it is one of the cheapest.
All three read at or below the lower limit.
