Expect odd, unrelated electrical behaviour — modules resetting, warning lights that come and go, a clock losing time — and eventually a flat twelve-volt battery. If several unrelated electrical faults have appeared at once, that pattern is the diagnosis, and it is one fault rather than several.

What this code means

The circuit that enables the DC/DC converter is intermittent.

An enable line is a plain permission, separate from any command, and having it separate is what lets a module shut the converter down decisively rather than asking it to produce nothing.

Intermittent is the worst way for it to fail. A converter switching on and off means the twelve-volt system is being charged in bursts, so the battery is never fully charged and never quite flat — it simply degrades, cycled shallowly, thousands of times. The car meanwhile behaves oddly in ways nobody connects: modules resetting, a radio that forgets, warning lights that appear and clear, a clock that loses time. Those are twelve-volt symptoms and they get chased individually.

The tell is that the symptoms are unrelated to each other. One failing module explains one set of odd behaviours. A supply that comes and goes explains all of them at once, and that is the pattern to recognise before a series of parts get replaced.

Found by watching the twelve-volt system voltage while driving rather than at rest — a converter enable that drops out does so over bumps, under load, or as things warm up, and a static measurement will show fourteen volts and prove nothing.

Note the title. Both sources spell intermittent in lower case here, so it is the standard's own quirk rather than a transcription slip; the corpus capitalises it to match every other title it carries.
