P2309: Ignition Coil D Primary Control Circuit Low

Stop if the engine light is flashing. Note whether the misfire appears only once the engine is warm, or only under load — that pattern is characteristic of a coil breaking down with heat, and it matters because such a coil often tests fine cold on a bench and will not misbehave during a cold inspection.
What this code means
Coil D's primary control circuit reads below its valid range.
The point worth adding here is that coils fail with heat, and that shapes when the fault appears. A coil's insulation breaks down more readily hot than cold, so a coil approaching failure characteristically works when the engine is cold and fails once everything is up to temperature — or fails under load, where the electrical demand and the underbonnet temperature are both highest.
That gives the driver information no scan tool has, and it is worth reporting: a misfire that appears after twenty minutes of driving and is absent on a cold start is a coil breaking down with heat, and it will very likely not misbehave during a workshop inspection on a cold engine.
It also explains coils that pass a resistance test and are still faulty. Resistance measured cold on a bench says little about insulation that fails at operating temperature under full switching voltage.
