P2315: Ignition Coil F Primary Control Circuit Low

Do not keep driving

Stop if the engine light is flashing. If several coils are affected, ask whether they are all on one side of the engine — that points at one branch of the wiring rather than at the coils themselves.

What this code means

Coil F's primary control circuit reads below its valid range.

A sixth coil means at least a six-cylinder engine, and that changes the practical picture in one respect worth noting: on a V configuration the coils are split across two banks, so a fault affecting coils on one side only points at that bank's harness branch, while one affecting coils on both points at what they share.

That is the same reasoning the corpus applies to oxygen sensors and injector groups, and it works here for the same reason — the wiring leaves the module in branches, and a branch is a smaller search than a loom.

Information, not instruction

CarGeek is a reference, not a service manual. Its pages are written from public sources and from what other people have found, never from a manufacturer's own service information, so they can be wrong or incomplete for your particular vehicle. Some of what they describe carries real risk: high voltage, fuel under pressure, stored energy, hot and moving parts.

Have anything you intend to act on checked by a trained person against the manufacturer's own procedure for your vehicle. Nothing here replaces that procedure.

Nothing posted about this yet. Whatever you found is worth writing down — even a dead end saves someone the same afternoon.

What makes one worth reading:

  • The car — make, model, year and engine. The same fault behaves differently on each.
  • What you measured, not only what you replaced.
  • What actually fixed it — or that nothing did, which is worth knowing too.
