P2549: Torque Management Request Input Signal B Range/Performance

What to do

Same practical advice as the other codes in this family: the engine is unlikely to be the problem, and the power loss comes from a request made by another module. If both an A and a B code are stored, say so — that pattern usually means something shared, such as a connector or an earth point, rather than two independent faults.

What this code means

The second torque reduction request is electrically valid and does not agree with the conditions, or does not agree with the A signal.

Where the two lines carry the same request as a check on each other, a disagreement is the whole point of the design working. Neither reading is necessarily wrong, and the module cannot tell which one to trust — so it takes the safe interpretation and reduces torque. That is why a car can lose power on the strength of a code that describes only a disagreement.
