JAC S3
The compact crossover below the S5, and the higher-volume car of the two in most export markets. It uses the group's own 1.5 and 1.6 naturally aspirated fours — not the licensed Mitsubishi units of the older S5, so that cross-reference does not apply here and JAC's own data is the only data. In practice the faults are ordinary for a simple port-injected car: coils, the crankshaft position sensor as a cause of intermittent no-start, and the idle control. The CVT fitted to automatic cars is the item worth attention, because its fluid specification is particular and its temperature and ratio codes are the first sign of wear rather than any slipping complaint.
