Mazda 626

The mid-size saloon and estate that the Mazda 6 replaced, sold as the Capella in Japan, and still running in large numbers in markets where it was assembled locally. The engines are the FS and KL families shared across the range of the period, which is helpful because information for them is not confined to this car. The four-speed automatic is the recurring subject — the CD4E, developed with Ford and fitted to the Probe as well, and the reason a great many of these cars are diagnosed for shift quality rather than for anything the engine is doing.
